Oooh - thanks for that book recommendation. Adding that to my list now! And cheers to your 1800 Mondays! Here's to living in vivid color as Jodi Wellman says. 💃🏾
Second this. It’s one of the top three most resonant books I’ve read. Adding: Burkeman’s newsletter is the only one I never skip or skim. It’s just too dang rich.
Yikes. I'm down (or up?) to about 1400 Mondays left. To be fair, I was conservative. I didn't bump myself up as living longer due to my lifestyle, because who knows, right?
It's an interesting perspective, one that might work for some, but not for others. It's fascinating, really, to see what motivates us. I just want to live my best life, so that's what motivates me to take care of myself. And I'm happy to report to be in the "astonishingly alive" quadrant. 😍 Hey, maybe living abroad does have it's perks! xo
Hooray for landing in the "astonishingly alive" quadrant. I may be being hard on myself here (I'm beginning to realize I'm ALWAYS hard on myself 😳) but I think I'm just slightly to the left of the border. LOL. I need me some joie de vivre. That's why I read you all the time!
Yeah, I was thinking that being in the various quadrants REALLY depends where you are at in life. There are seasons for everything. Right now, we’re getting ready to move, so I feel optimistic…
Fantastic read on a very early morning. <coffee in hand>
I'm not sure if I'm energized by the Monday countdown or paralyzed by it!!! LOL But one this is for sure - living feeling "astonishingly alive" is where it's at. To me, that means living a life of curiousity, wonder, gratitude and feeling fulfilled. I'm looking forward to reading more of your work!
I think it is always eye-opening when we plot things out like this .... number of Mondays, weeks, years. As much as my logical self "gets it," I still am not good at acting upon the insight. Still trying! I need to take a look at Wellman's book. I've had Four Thousand Weeks (which others have mentioned) out a few times and still need to really give it some attention. At the rate at which weeks seem to slip away, I really need to focus.
I just picked up Four Thousand Weeks and it's on the pile (a tall pile!) of "the next one to read"! 😂 But the weeks do seem to fly by these days and I'm wanting to squeeze more of that joie de vivre juice even more. I've got the meaning part all set, I think.
This realization of the foolishness behind wishing away our time or just biding it for any reason (looking at you, Monday) is an important moment of awakening.
The movie Click did this in a fun way if anyone feels so inclined to Sandler it up.
A world seen clearly, devoid of this illusion we think of as a separate self, is one without boredom, and without a need to find meaning somewhere “out there.” All of this awareness is available right now from this place here and now.
Hi Damon. So glad you left this note here as it led me to you and your publication. We are kindred spirits! 😊 And I totally am with you that "meaning" isn't out there to be found... unfortunately, many think this way, including me once upon a time! Cheers!
Looking at the rest of my life through "how many Mondays" was, well, sobering to say the least. The number was way, way to small. But it was a pleasant surprise to be rated Astonishingly Alive despite being sleep deprived and tired all the time. I'm doing all I can to get me some more Mondays. This was a good wake up call (literally, the first thing I read after my morning shower).
High five on landing in the Astonishing Alive square! (I, myself, am borderline or just on the other side of that.) And I hear you about seeing a "number". I'm like, no Mondays left to waste! Cheers Jodi!
This is a great companion to Four Thousand Weeks. Thank you for sharing this! I have 1800 Mondays left. Best get to lifing! :)

Yes! I enjoy his newsletters very much, too!

Glad this landed for you Maria. I love that word "wonder" and I think we could all use more of that in our lives. Cheers.
Wonder and Wander are favorite words of mine. As I’m reworking my about page, I realize I should probably include them lol

Great post Lou. I think it's important to think in these ways- however challenging. I will check out my Mondays soon.
Thank you JFT. It's a bit daunting to see the Monday "count" to be sure, but I believe the jolt is what we need.

Cheers for the provocation, Lou.

Nice. Glad to connect, and thank you for the thoughtful reply. Yes, we seem to share some space!
