Love this, Lou. I am also terribly conflicted over using AI. I use it like a tool as you’ve described (Frankly, it is hard to avoid at this point as it seems to be in every online platform I use for my business.), but I really hope we can reign in the over investment in data centers and hold the AI companies feet to the fire about the water usage.

I'm hoping for the bubble to burst when it comes to these corporate investments and for some sanity. I'm hoping for other countries to step up, lead the way, and regulate (because we know the US won't do anything 😳) and that those regulations become globally accepted. I'm hoping for a lot of things. 😂 Cheers, Yvonne!

I think this is a great metaphor, Lou! I use AI for research (checking the sources carefully), but when it comes to writing, that's my work, not a bot's. I write because I have things I am passionate about, and I don't want someone else articulating them for me. So thanks for giving me a new way to explain why I make the decisions I do about AI. Blessings from me!

Hi Susan. Yeah, when I heard it discussed in that podcast, my brain was like "ding, ding, ding". Something I've come to really feel strongly about is that all these technologies, social media, everything tech — we have agency over how we use them. As long as we remember that and don't give that up, we'll be okay. I think. ☺️ Cheers!

It would be a perfect world if AI could be just a tool for us humans to improve what we do but I fear it has already spun so far into becoming a negative force. Like Facebook was once just a really cool way for college students to bond and connect but it went way off the rails.

I too fear for what AI will do to the future generations of the work force.

Hi Sally. In that Sustainable Ambition podcast that I referenced, anthropologist Adam Russell said the best way to put guardrails around AI is to be (and raise, if you have kids) better humans. Hear hear. Cheers!

That is a great framework. I don’t want AI to replace my human agency and choices. Writing is how my brain expresses itself, I don’t want to mess with that. I see more people letting AI not just guide their choices but take the lead.

Hi Deidre. It is a slippery slope and we can easily go over to the "dark side" without even realizing what we've given up for the sake of convenience. That's one reason I loved this framework because it helps me do a quick check just by asking the question! Cheers!
